Character Unit Assessment

All students in all classes must be prepared for an important assignment in class on Monday November 27th by doing the following:

1) Bring their current fiction independent reading book.

2) Make sure they have read the entire book.

We will be using this book in class throughout the week to demonstrate and apply the skills and concepts we have been working with in our unit of study on Character: Who do you think you are?

WELCOME to 6th Grade!

Dear Parents and Students,

To set the tone for middle school it is important to understand that becoming an effective reader is a continual building process.  The level of the material, and amount, increases as a student moves through middle school.  Therefor, it is important to note that although there may be no assigned homework on a given night...students are expected to read a minimum of 20 minutes each and every night at home in a book of their choice.  This reading material will also be used in class to evaluate a student's progress.  We will be able to borrow books from our class library, but I also encourage students and their parents to visit our public library here in town.

"Reading is a skill that will serve, entertain and fulfill us for a lifetime."

Mr. Simler
