Nancy Sylvestre

A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, Ms. Nancy Sylvestre has also attained her MS degree at University of Bridgeport. While majoring in Music Education during college, Ms. Sylvestre was a member of the MIT Symphony Orchesrta which toured throughout the mid-western United States. This allowed her the experience of playing oboe on many orchestral pieces, which she added to her already extensive repertoire.

Ms. Sylvestre began playing violin in the fourth grade and was a member f the Boroque Ensemble and Lakeland Youth Symphony, located in her native New Jersey, during junior and senior high school. She began studying oboe in the seventh grade and continued playing both instruments throughout high school. Ms. Sylvestre was selected to play violin and oboe in the New Jersey all-State Orchestra and Band as well as the Northern New Jersey All-State Orchestra and Band Organizations.

Currently, Ms. Sylvestre plays Principal Oboe and is often afforded an opportunity to assist in the violin section of the Hamden Symphony Orchestra of which she has been a member for over 20 years. She has also participated in the oldenbells Festival as a member of the featured woodwind quintet. She teaches strings at West Shore MS, JFK, Mathewson, Meadowside, Simon Lake, and Pumpkin Delight.
